Village Fashion Show!

This Friday April 10th, I will be helping out with the Village Fashion Show in KC. The event will be featuring two awesome ladies that I work with, and their lines, Belle Amie, and Kitty Reese.
Along with the fashion show, there will be some bands, and booths set up to purchase clothing by the designers! I will be helping to run the booth for my coworkers. They are paying me in clothes, which is pretty much my dream.Navy body suit by Kitty Reese, available at Bluecollardistro.com. Recently seen in Bust Magazine!

The show is at 7pm on Friday April 10 at Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art (JCCC)

Kitchen Update!

So the kitchen has actually been done for a few weeks now, but I've been too busy cooking to blog about it.
So BAM! This is it, and I love it!

I got these prints on Etsy from Berkley Illustration. I knew I had seen the artist before, but I just couldn't place him. Then I realized that Mary picked up a print at an art fair last fall!
I may just have to start collecting them, every time I look there are more that I love!

I want it.

The kitchen will offically be done today, so hopefully I can take more photos and get them up soon. My lunch breaks for the past month have been spent in my office, instead of at home. I usually spend the time reading blogs and shopping online.
I am really wanting a Holga camera right now. Its been years since I've shot on 35mm, and my camera needs a very expensive repair.
What draws me to the Holga cameras are the low-prices (great for experimenting), and the slightly dream-like quality of the photos. Of course I want the cat-face camera.

Too cute, my friends.

Cut + Frames

This week was a productive appearance week for me. After one failed pair of glasses, I got the ones I really wanted (sorry, Mom). They are a nice change for me, as I have had the same style of glasses for the past ten years or so. Boooooring.
Today my friend Megs (she rules) thinned my hair out a bit. I love going to get my haircut by her, she's really starting to get a better feel for my hair, and has been with me while I've been growing it out. We decided I might actually be a long hair type of girl. Cool, eh?

Kitchen remodel post this weekend! The cabinets go up tomorrow and I could not be happier! I've been looking at recipes to get lots of ideas stock piled. OOOH and if you have an iphone you should get the "Allrecipes.com Dinner Spinner", it is really fun to play around with.

I will miss this kitchen...

This past Monday, the remodel started on our kitchen. I will be tracking the progress on my blog, but here are a few pictures of what the kitchen looked like before demolition.

I will really miss the yellow sink and countertops, but they are so damaged its not worth keeping them. As for the cabinets, they are mostly rusted-out and will also be replaced.
The progress is coming along quickly, we have about two weeks left. I've also decided to paint the kitchen grass green to match the rest of the living room.

I cannot wait to cook in the new kitchen!

Knitting!

A few weeks ago I started my first knitting project.
It is coming along very slowly, but it looks pretty good so far. I really don't know how it will look in the end, but this is what it looks like now:Hopefully it will be a medium size cowl. That picture looks like crap, sorry.

In other news, the kitchen remodel will be starting soon. I will be tracking the progress soon. I'm really excited, but about not having a kitchen for three (!) weeks.

A Cozy Winter.

For a very long time, I have been searching the perfect winter coat. As with everything else, I know I should be investing in a nice, classic piece. However, since I am young and fairly poor, I usually go for the cheap item.
Recently while researching bridesmaid dresses online, I came across some beautiful winter coats on J.Crew.com. They make wonderful coats, but they are usually way out of my price range. Lucky for me, sale prices are a little lower this year due to the recession. I made the decision to buy myself a coat. The hardest part was deciding which one. There were a few really great ones to choose from. But I finally decided (it was probably the word "cashmere" in the discription) on the Carrie Coat.
I love this coat! I don't even care that is was marked down even more just a few days after I bought it. It is incredibly comfortable, cute, practical, and oh-so-freaking-soft.
The mustard tights make me feel like a dinosaur, or a duck. But I went shopping with my friend Lisa, who thinks I wear too many dark colors.
The coat also has a nice tie at the neck for when it gets windy and I am without a scarf.
I love it. I do not love my funny lips in the photo above. Stupid flash.
